Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup 80g almond flour
- 1 cup 120g powdered sugar
- 2 large egg whites
- 1/4 cup 50g granulated sugar
- Food coloring optional
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
Sift almond flour and powdered sugar together into a bowl
In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until frothy, then add cream of tartar and continue to beat
Gradually add granulated sugar while beating until stiff peaks form
Fold the sifted almond flour mixture into the egg whites in thirds until just combined
Add food coloring and vanilla extract
Transfer the batter to a piping bag with a round tip
Pipe small circles onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
Tap the baking sheet to remove air bubbles and let the macarons rest for 30 minutes to form a skin
Preheat your oven to 300F 150C
Bake the macarons for 15-18 minutes, until they have risen and have feet
Let them cool completely
